Hexi Blog Hop....More fun than I thought...

Ok, I've never made a hexi before. In fact the only hexis I've seen in person were little English paper piecing ones my sister was hand sewing. She had a bunch of plastic sandwich bags full of them.  (Did not look like fun to me, so despite my sister's enthusiasm for those tiny hexis I had no intention of trying them).  Along comes the Hexi Blog Hop and again I didn't think I would try it, but there were OLISO iron giveaways and Quiltscapes blog had just posted a terrific Hexi hot pad. I needed a new iron so badly that I signed up. Unfortunately I didn't win a iron, but I did have fun making a couple hexi projects.  My first project was (surprise) a Hexi hot pad :
I made it to go with some placemats and a table runner (pattern called Table for Four)
and a fabric bowl as a gift for my niece.
I love the front fabrics, but the back fabric is fun, too.

My second project was a take off of the hexi hot pad. I made the five hexis without
the insulbrite and sewed them together before finishing the blanket stitch on the curves.

Some close ups of the cute fabrics

Day 5: Monday, August 26
Scrapbook-ChickaDoodle (you are here)

I apologize that when I signed up for the hop, I didn't realize we would be on vacation with very limited, if any, internet service. I hope I will be able to read the blogs from my phone, but might not be able to comment. I will not be replying to comments left on my blog post, but I want you to know I truly enjoy receiving all your comments. I will be having a giveaway of some fabric (fabric not chosen yet, maybe I will pick something up on vacation). Open to all followers who leave comments. I will chose a winner Sept 9th..

  58. Want to let you know that your post came through just fine. Hope you are having a great vacation. I love your hexie. Good idea to make the hexies without insulbrite. I made a tablerunner with insulbrite for a call from our quilt guild. I'm prone to migraines and the kringle of the insulbrite drove me crazy. I made a tablerunner like it except bigger with insulbrite for my bro and SIL for Christmas last year. It's different when it's family. Your hexies are fabulous. Please don't compare yourself to your sister. I don't know that I've seen her work. Yours is fabulous. Thanks for participating in the hop and being a great inspiration and especially participating while you are on vacation.
